A Hilarious Start to an Epic Coffee Adventure

The day kicked off with a playful twist—a comical video showcasing Marc as we “stalked” him from Oahu to the Big Island. A quirky nod to hiding in plain sight set the tone for a lighthearted yet meaningful journey into Hawai’i’s vibrant coffee scene.

First Stop: A Caffeine Kick at Big Island Coffee Roasters

Thursday, January 16, 7:06 am: The team landed in Hilo, eager to dive into the Big Island’s coffee world. Our first destination? Big Island Coffee Roasters. This cozy cafe offered not only a much-needed caffeine fix but also a chance to stock up on some exceptional bags of specialty coffee. A quick photoshoot captured the vibrant energy of the place and our love for all things coffee.

Exploring Cloudrest Farm’s Rich Coffee Heritage

Next, we headed to Cloudrest Farm in the Ka’u district, where we were warmly welcomed by Delvin Navarro, a fifth-generation coffee farmer. Delvin shared the story of his family’s deep roots in the coffee industry and their dedication to innovation in a competitive market. MarcatCloudrestFarm

As we wandered through the farm, we were treated to a rare sight: delicate coffee flowers blooming alongside ripening cherries. It was a beautiful moment that reminded us of the intricate work and care that goes into each cup of coffee. 🌱

A Tasty Lunch Break at Miranda Farms

Lunch brought us to Miranda Farms (@mirandafarmscoffee), a multi-award-winning gem known for its exceptional coffee. While savoring iced lattes from their cafe, we indulged in mouthwatering tacos and pupusas from El Encanto Food Truck (@elencantofoodtruckllc), parked conveniently outside. This stop was a reminder that great coffee pairs perfectly with great food—and Miranda Farms delivers both with style. The farm’s dedication to quality and sustainability shone through in every sip and bite.

A Final Stop at White Nene Coffee Roasters

Our coffee-filled day concluded at the roastery of Mark Kove, founder of White Nene Coffee Roasters (@whitenenecoffee). Mark, a national coffee roasting finalist, walked us through his workshop, sharing his passion for supporting local farms and experimenting with new ideas. NeneMarcBigIsland
