Origin Coffee Roasters
Origin Coffee Roasters was established in 2019 in Kihei, Hawai'i by founder and roaster Heather Brisson-Lutz. Ever since then, Origin Coffee Roasters have put specialty coffee on the map in Maui. Not only that, they even won Maui's Best Coffee Roaster along with consistent winner scores of 90pts from Coffee Review. Origin Coffee Roasters was also the first Maui grown coffee to reach Coffee Review's Top 30 coffees! Origin Coffee Roasters has direct partnerships at the farm level as they believe in that the quality of coffee is an integral part of the business. By forming these relationships with the farmers, it allows for a more honest and collaborative space and even more opportunities for experimental methods and innovation.
Napili Coffee
Located on the northwestern edge of Maui sits the Coffee Store. Owner Melissa Bundek, has owned the shop in West Maui for 22 years. They're roasting some of the best Kona and Kāʻanapali beans. The Coffee Store not only serves but also sells a variety of locally grown coffees (yes, they do ship to your door as well!).
O'o Farm
Located in upcountry Maui just above Kula, you will find O'o Farm! Founded in 2,000 by owners Louis Coulombe and Stephan Bel-Robert, O'o Farm has operated with the best interests of not only the island in mind but also their team, and the island community. The farm is near the top of Haleakala volcano (3,600 feet!). There is a no-till approach when it comes to farming, and all 130 distinct crops in rotation are sustainably maintained and naturally cultivated. Back in 2005, O'o Farm began coffee production by importing Red Catuai and Yellow Cattura from Kāʻanapali. Since then, they have become a competitive level producer of single site coffee. O'o Farm won their first ever state title in 2016 when they placed third in Maui District. O'o Farm also offers tours to showcase the process of coffee cultivation.
Akamai Coffee
Akamai Coffee Co. was founded by Byron Brown and has been a family-owned business ever since. All coffee is hand selected and are 100% locally roasted. Akamai has multiple locations in Kahului, Wailea, and Kihei. They were voted the Best Coffee Shop and Coffee Roaster in the 2023 annual Maui Time Best of Maui Awards and were also the first and only coffee company awarded the prestigious 'Aipono Award for Best Coffee by Maui Magazine in the past 3 years. Akamai Coffee Co. was also named in the Top 20 Essential Maui Resturants by Eater.com.
