Step 1: Define Product Needs
Have a clear idea of the type of product, net weight, shelf life and turnaround times, shelf requirements (if your product is being sold in grocery stores). By defining your product needs, you are building the foundation to help guide you through the next steps.
Step 2: Decide on a Bag Style
Depending on the type of product you are packaging, it will help narrow down your bag style options. Make sure to determine everything required in Step 1 so that your Savor Brands rep can provide additional guidance (if needed). The typical bag styles offered are:
- Stand Up Pouch
- Side Gusset V-Cut
- Quad Seal V-Cut
- Quad Seal Box Bottom
💡
Pro Tip: Depending on the product and your shelf life requirements, our team will help you determine the best barrier for you!
Step 3: Design with Bag Template in Mind
One common mistake is that your dream design does not translate well when the bag is formed. Our team at Savor Brands will work with your designer to ensure that your design works well when printed. A bonus to printing with the Digital print process is that you do not need to worry about color plate costs. Digital printing allows you to capture your brand's vibe without color limitations.
💡
Pro Tip: Make sure your designer adds a 3mm bleed to all panels as the machines are moving at a high velocity and shifting occurs.
Step 4: Special Features
During the design phase, you will be prompted with more options to help make your design POP. At Savor Brands, we offer special Digital Print features such as:
- Transparent Ink
- Knock Out to Aluminum
- Metallic Ink
- Cold Stamp
- Direct Printing (Kraft only)
- Holographic Foil
Do you need these special features? Not always but they do provide your design the extra "oomph" to separate yourself from the rest of the market.
OPTIONAL: Request for a Mockup
Unsure about design placement and need a 3D mockup to finalize the minor details? Reach out to your Savor Brands Rep to request for a mockup!
Step 5: Approve Final Design
Every design submitted for production is reviewed by our Pre-Press Team to double check the design is print ready. After review, our team will send over the final design for review and once signed off, this will be the version that gets submitted into production.
Step 6: Make Payment
Once payment is received, your order gets submitted into our production queue. The best part about our Digital Print process is that the turnaround time for high quality packaging is only 5-7 weeks.
