Degassing Valves
Coffee Packaging
Ever wondered why there were slits and a little round plastic piece on your coffee bag? It's called a degassing valve and this little plastic piece plays a crucial role in your coffee packaging. Here's how it works: After roasting, coffee beans release carbon dioxide and this gas builds up inside a sealed bag. Without a degassing valve, the carbon dioxide build up can cause the bag to puff up or worse, burst in delivery transit. The degassing valve solves this problem by allowing the carbon dioxide to escape and preventing oxygen from entering. In short, the degassing plays a very crucial part to your coffee bags and will help with bursting that may occur during shipping.

How to Pack Your Coffee Bags for Shipping
Shipping your coffee bags and ensuring it arrives to your customer is just as important as roasting and packaging. Coffee bags bursting during transit can hurt your brand's reputation and also affect your revenue and overheard. Here's some quick tips to avoid your coffee bags from bursting in transit. Start by ensuring your coffee has rested an adequate period as bagging your coffee right away can cause more pressure to build. When fulfilling your customer's order, make sure the coffee bag(s) are packed snuggly to reduce unnecessary movement and that the degassing valves are not blocked as it will hinder the coffee's degassing and more likely to cause your coffee bags to burst.
